Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of AI Tutors tasked with providing training data and evaluations for SpaceXAI models.

• Take ownership of the entire quality and delivery process for designated Human Data projects.

• Conduct personal reviews of domain work to ensure accuracy, consistency, adherence to guidelines, and overall quality at scale.

• Guide, mentor, and manage the performance of AI Tutors, including conducting reviews, maintaining records, developing action plans, facilitating shadow sessions, and promoting continuous improvement.

• Oversee and engage in labeling and reviewing tasks.

• Manage taxonomies and quality assurance procedures.

• Identify operational challenges, implement process enhancements, and monitor KPIs through dashboards.

• Develop, revise, and present training materials, practice tasks, and certification benchmarks.

• Oversee certification processes and workforce adjustments.

• Collaborate with Human Data Managers, Team Leads, and Engineering on labeling strategies and requirements.

• Coach and nurture talent while fostering accountability, a performance-driven culture, and managing disciplinary actions.

• Document outcomes and communicate project status, risks, and results.

• Act as a representative for tutors and encourage collaboration within the Human Data organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in data labeling, annotation, AI training/evaluation, content quality, or related operational fields.

• Professional background in developing scalable, high-performance technology applications.

• Familiarity with data quality metrics, annotation processes, and guideline-driven workflows.

• Basic understanding of AI and machine learning principles and the significance of high-quality training data on model performance.

• Experience in performance management, coaching, training program development, and certification frameworks.

• Candidates should reside in one of the countries with a SpaceXAI physical office; remote work options are available.

• Preferred: experience in leading small teams within data labeling, annotation, or related operations.

• Preferred: proficiency in data analysis and related tools; SQL knowledge is a plus.

• Preferred: experience in managing mixed employment types or distributed teams.

• Preferred: strong expertise or specialization in Finance, STEM, Coding/Software Engineering, or other technical disciplines.
