Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Contribute to product decisions and shape the technical direction for various products and solutions.

• Advocate for the organization's vision, strategy, and roadmap regarding technology architecture.

• Act as the technical lead for one or multiple products, guiding architectural and development choices.

• Define architectural and development principles, patterns, and decision-making frameworks.

• Articulate complex architectures and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Design secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective software solutions at the enterprise level.

• Develop integrations that facilitate data transformation between internal and external systems.

• Embrace and enhance infrastructure-as-code reference implementations.

• Lead proof-of-concept projects and offer guidance on implementations.

• Perform technical reviews to uncover optimization opportunities, technical debt, and modernization priorities.

• Engage in hands-on development, provide technical mentorship, and eliminate obstacles.

• Propel initiatives that enhance software maturity, operational excellence, and engineering efficiency.

• Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and simplification.

• Partake in code reviews and collaborate on system designs and resolving issues.

• Oversee deliverables throughout the software development life cycle and escalate challenges as needed.

• Showcase incremental changes and assess delivery readiness.

• Work alongside Product and Quality Engineering teams on planning, refinement, defect resolution, and observations.

• Create and maintain automated unit and integration tests.

• Monitor and support software to ensure compliance with service-level agreements.

• Investigate relevant technologies and share findings with the team.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent demonstrated experience.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in software engineering or similar technical leadership roles.

• Proven experience in architecting and developing large-scale, production-grade software within enterprise environments.

• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction, regardless of direct authority.

• Track record of leading software delivery initiatives from concept to completion, including product modernization and integration programs.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of navigating ambiguity and diagnosing complex issues.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to convert business objectives into technical solutions.

• Capacity to mentor and educate others.

• Ability to independently drive initiatives while effectively collaborating with others.

• Familiarity with Agile software methodologies, particularly Scrum.

• Expert knowledge of software engineering and architecture patterns, including Clean architecture principles.

• Strong understanding of AWS and/or Azure cloud architecture patterns and services.

• Proficient knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools and practices, including Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates.

• In-depth understanding of secure computing principles, compliance frameworks such as SOC2, PCI-DSS, and HIPAA, and infrastructure components.

• Strong grasp of containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes, serverless architectures, and microservices patterns.

• Proficient with DevOps tools, Git, CI/CD, configuration, observability, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code languages like Terraform and HCL.

• Expertise in containerized and serverless architectures, microservices, and event-driven architecture patterns.

• Experience in building modern, responsive web applications.

• Proficient in creating and consuming APIs, including REST and SOAP.

• Preferred: Skilled in .NET development with hands-on experience in C#.

• Preferred: Significant professional experience within the Microsoft .NET ecosystem.

• Preferred: Hands-on experience with multiple programming languages, such as Python and Go.

• Preferred: Experience with contemporary front-end web frameworks, such as Blazor and Angular.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AWS.

• Preferred: Experience with relational and NoSQL database architecture and administration.

• Preferred: Experience in architecting software for AI workloads and understanding Agentic AI architectures.

• Preferred: Knowledge of responsible AI practices, governance frameworks, and security considerations.

• Preferred: Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
