This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.
• Take ownership of AI products from their initial conception to MVP, pilot, and readiness for production.
• Define both product and technical strategies while making practical scope decisions.
• Quickly build and launch proofs of concept and functional MVPs.
• Utilize feedback, experimentation, and real-world usage data to validate assumptions and enhance product functionalities.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, clinicians, and data stakeholders to convert care delivery workflows into AI features.
• Make and communicate architectural and technological decisions while balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, and operational risk.
• Establish nimble engineering practices that facilitate rapid delivery without sacrificing quality.
• Ensure that AI systems adhere to HIPAA and Humana’s Responsible AI standards.
• Engage in AIRB and Responsible AI Council review processes as applicable.
• Standardize software quality assurance protocols.
• Supervise testing and debugging processes and develop necessary fixes.
• Investigate complaints and recommend modifications to resolve intricate software issues.
• Provide guidance to executives on functional strategies.
• Operate with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment on complex matters.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.
• Extensive hands-on experience with large language models and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Strong expertise in Python, TypeScript, and modern ML tools like Hugging Face or PyTorch.
• Experience in designing and deploying RAG pipelines and vector search systems in a production environment.
• Familiarity with model fine-tuning techniques, including LoRA, RLHF, or instruction tuning.
• Experience in designing and constructing multi-agent AI systems, including agent orchestration, tool usage, and sandboxed execution environments.
• Proven end-to-end ownership of complex AI systems from architecture to production operation.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and secure management of protected health information (PHI).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools and LLM coding harnesses such as Claude Code, Pi Agent, Cursor, or Codex.
• Experience working alongside Product Management to influence product direction, collect requirements, and lead scalable, customer-centric applications.
• Ability to swiftly build prototypes utilizing agent coding harnesses.
• A dedicated workspace without ongoing interruptions to safeguard member PHI/HIPAA information.
• Home internet connection with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speed.
• Preferred: Experience in healthcare, clinical informatics, or highly regulated sectors.
• Preferred: Experience in designing and implementing custom LLM and agent evaluation frameworks.
• Preferred: Exposure to clinical NLP, medical coding, or EHR/FHIR data standards.
• Preferred: Experience managing AI systems at scale on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
