Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical vision and design standards for distributed, cloud-native systems across various teams.

• Take ownership of the reliability, performance, and security posture of vital production systems, primarily utilizing Go.

• Propel the advancement of CI/CD, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code practices within the engineering organization.

• Define and maintain organization-wide standards for reliability, security, and observability.

• Lead critical architectural decisions and strategies for addressing technical debt, shaping multi-quarter roadmaps.

• Act as the senior technical representative in intricate client engagements.

• Design solutions and proofs-of-concept for challenging integrations.

• Guide and mentor senior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design documents, and overall technical guidance across the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in the design, development, and operation of complex, distributed software systems at scale.

• Profound expertise in Go (Golang), including idiomatic, concurrent, and high-performance coding practices.

• Advanced cloud-native skills with Kubernetes and Terraform/CloudFormation.

• Extensive knowledge of AWS or GCP managed services, networking, and cloud security at scale.

• Strong experience in distributed systems architecture, particularly with microservices, asynchronous messaging, and data consistency.

• Significant experience with CI/CD automation and observability stacks, including New Relic, Prometheus, or ELK.

• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical discussions with clients and effectively communicate roadmaps to non-technical stakeholders.

• Proven track record of mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering culture across teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Preferred experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, model evaluation pipelines, and model quality/reliability techniques.
