Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the technical strategy and architecture for Bankjoy's Online Account Opening and Online Loan Application services.

• Spearhead solution design and quarterly planning processes.

• Ensure compliance with KYC/AML regulations, identity verification, and data privacy standards.

• Offer technical direction and perform code reviews.

• Design integrations with core banking systems and external vendors.

• Decompose projects into milestones and deliverables while managing scope, dependencies, risks, and technical debt.

• Track delivery progress and communicate any risks and obstacles.

• Actively participate in coding, testing, debugging, and development efforts.

• Create backend services using C#, .NET Core, Entity Framework, and SQL Server.

• Develop frontend components utilizing TypeScript and Angular.

• Establish and maintain integrations with core banking and third-party APIs.

• Guide and mentor engineers through individual meetings, feedback sessions, and coaching.

• Recruit and onboard engineering talent.

• Collaborate with Product teams on roadmap planning, feature scope, and technical estimations.

• Work alongside Implementation and Client Success teams to address client go-live requirements.

• Partner with QA to set testing standards, quality checkpoints, UAT readiness, and release criteria.

• Supervise unit testing, integration testing, and the quality of CI/CD pipelines.

• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability practices.

• Engage in on-call rotation and respond to production incidents with root cause analysis and retrospectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• A minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership or lead engineer capacity.

• Domain expertise in digital account opening, loan origination, financial onboarding, or banking technology; candidates lacking this experience will not be considered.

• Strong skills in C#, .NET Core, Entity Framework, and SQL Server.

• Proficient in Angular and TypeScript.

• Demonstrated experience in building and integrating with core banking systems or third-party financial APIs.

• Experience in architecting scalable, secure, and compliant systems within a regulated financial context.

• Proven track record in leading engineering teams, setting technical direction, mentoring engineers, and ensuring delivery.

• Solid understanding of KYC/AML compliance, identity verification, and data privacy obligations.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containerization, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Availability to work Eastern Time Zone hours.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Must be authorized to work in Canada.

• Must be able to work remotely from the country of hire.
