Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee software development and high-impact consulting projects from initial discovery to final production.

• Quickly contribute and establish trust with clients.

• Balance technology selections while ensuring the delivery of high-quality work within set deadlines.

• Facilitate architecture and software design discussions.

• Collaborate on systems encompassing the entire ML lifecycle, from data ingestion and preprocessing to deployment, integration, and performance monitoring.

• Develop both technical and non-technical solutions in partnership with team members and clients.

• Lead feedback sessions and retrospectives.

• Document outcomes and drive actionable items.

• Ensure teams maintain healthy, prioritized, and estimated backlogs.

• Oversee high-level project roadmaps for significant engagements.

• Foster relationships with client technical leaders.

• Conduct status and risk discussions with clients and present potential solutions.

• Identify, mitigate, and resolve obstacles.

• Mentor peers, lead or design workshops, represent 8th Light in the technology community, and assist in hiring processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Typically possess 7+ years of proven success across various projects.

• Successfully guided high-impact consulting projects from discovery to production.

• Experience in production-quality coding using Java, C#/.NET, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Go, Ruby, Scala, R, and SQL.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for scaffolding, refactoring, debugging, test generation, and documentation.

• Experience in building or integrating AI/ML-driven features.

• Proficient in automated testing.

• Skilled in debugging and refactoring existing code.

• Experience with Git, macOS/Linux, and CI/CD processes.

• Addressed scalability, security, reliability, and performance issues effectively.

• Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional collaboration, making recommendations in ambiguous situations, mentoring, offering and receiving feedback, and communicating with empathy.

• Preferred experience in platform engineering, data engineering/Databricks, production agentic systems, RAG pipelines, vector search, LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, n8n, DevSecOps, DevOps, MLOps, or Infrastructure as Code.
