Lead Software Engineer – Analytics & Reporting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Lead the Application team responsible for customer-centric data APIs, analytics products, and client reporting.

• Manage and expand a team of six engineers: three backend, two frontend, and one QA.

• Collaborate daily with two Product Managers, a Designer, and a UX Researcher.

• Allocate approximately 20–30% of your time on architecture, code reviews, and hands-on coding.

• Take ownership of public enterprise APIs and the microservices that support them.

• Oversee the Analytics section of the Uberall platform, including frontend, filtering, and custom-report APIs.

• Manage QuickSight reports and gold-layer datasets for customer reporting.

• Deploy and maintain services on Kubernetes and AWS.

• Oversee observability, service level objectives (SLOs), and the team’s on-call rotation; lead incident management efforts.

• Manage hiring, team development, one-on-ones, delivery, and engineering culture.

• Establish the App team as a healthy, self-sufficient unit.

• Co-manage the migration of data pipelines from the monolith to the Data Engineering stack.

• Propel backend modernization and transition from legacy Groovy and Scala services to Kotlin.

• Shape AI-assisted analytics insights and make data/APIs available for AI-agent use.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering.

• Strong backend expertise on the JVM; Kotlin is strongly preferred.

• Proficiency in Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Postgres.

• At least 2 years of experience leading an engineering team with genuine responsibility for people, including hiring, one-on-ones, performance management, and delivery, while remaining hands-on.

• Proven experience in designing, operating, and evolving production microservices.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, observability, SLOs, and incident management.

• Experience managing an on-call rotation.

• Strong SQL and analytical data modeling abilities.

• Experience with RESTful, service-oriented architectures serving external customers at scale.

• Frontend proficiency with React and TypeScript.

• Experience navigating legacy systems and migrations.

• Professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).

• Comfort in collaborating within a remote, distributed organization.

• Nice to have: experience with Groovy, Scala, Python, Amazon QuickSight or similar BI tools, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, LLM-powered product features, or making data/APIs available to AI agents.
