Lead Ruby on Rails Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the architecture, design, and development of applications built on Ruby on Rails.

• Strategically plan and manage extensive technical projects that involve various engineering teams.

• Oversee task coordination and assignments within intricate cross-team projects.

• Propel technical direction, establish coding standards, and uphold engineering best practices.

• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior, intermediate, and senior engineers.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Architecture teams to deliver scalable solutions.

• Recognize technical risks and implement strategies for resolution.

• Identify team-specific technical challenges and propose or execute solutions.

• Assess emerging technologies and recommend solutions that align with business objectives.

• Lead prototyping and research initiatives aimed at future platform enhancements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software development.

• More than 5 years of professional expertise in Ruby on Rails.

• Experience in designing and scaling APIs, distributed systems, and web applications.

• Proficiency with MySQL or other relational database systems.

• Familiarity with Git and contemporary CI/CD practices.

• Advanced software development, debugging, testing, and analytical skills.

• At least 2 years of experience in planning and executing cross-team technical projects.

• In-depth knowledge of sector-specific technologies, engineering procedures, and security frameworks.

• Strong proficiency in written and verbal English; interviews will be conducted in English.

• Ability to communicate fluently in Russian or Ukrainian.

• Nice to have: experience with microservices and service-oriented architectures.

• Nice to have: experience in integrating third-party platforms and APIs.

• Nice to have: capabilities in leadership, team-building, and mentoring.

• Nice to have: strategic thinking skills and the ability to assess alternative technical methodologies.

• Nice to have: robust communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Nice to have: data-driven decision-making skills and an analytical mindset.

• Nice to have: expertise in utilizing generative AI tools to enhance software development, code quality, debugging, testing, documentation, and engineering productivity.

• Nice to have: experience managing multiple projects at various stages simultaneously.
