This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define, design, and manage the technical components of HV/EHV substation protection and control.
• Supervise the integration and optimization of technical plants at the project level, ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost-effectiveness.
• Act as project engineer for small to medium-sized projects focused on secondary engineering when necessary.
• Create protection schemes for T&D substations, data centers, industrial applications, and BESS.
• Lead design teams, whether local or remote, in the development of panel/interconnect wiring, panel layouts, and elevations.
• Assess IED interoperability, control features, and communication protocols, integrating SCADA, cybersecurity, and telecom requirements.
• Implement IEC 61850 process and system bus architecture within substations.
• Collaborate with SCADA, substation physical, and control design engineers for system integration.
• Partner with the team to fulfill project specifications while meeting cost and schedule targets.
• Engage with internal and external engineering, design, project management, sourcing, and support teams.
• Analyze load flow, fault, relay coordination, and transient studies.
• Educate end-users on integrated protection and control systems.
• Lead or assist in factory acceptance testing and site testing/commissioning.
• Develop outage, cut-over, and testing procedures.
• Establish processes, conduct root cause analyses and corrective actions, and validate process control.
• Support quality initiatives, including ISO9002 compliance.
• Prepare proposals, technical specifications, estimates for design hours/materials, vendor quotations, clarifications, exceptions, technical responses, and validations.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of experience in engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in protection and controls engineering for substations or power generation.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%, including internationally, for meetings and on-site commissioning tests.
• Adhere to company travel and tax policies.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Possess a P.E. License or EIT with a commitment to pursue P.E. certification, or a P.Eng. with a willingness to obtain certification.
• Extensive knowledge of protective relaying coordination and practices.
• Familiarity with circuit breakers, fuses, circuit switchers, transformers, shunt reactors, capacitor banks, harmonic filters, HVDC, and FACTS systems.
• Proficient in English.
• Strong presentation skills with the ability to convey complex messages clearly.
• Experience in resolving technical problems effectively.
• Mastery of secondary engineering disciplines, including relevant processes, tools, and technical details.
