Lead PLM, Configuration Engineer – Data Center Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Take full responsibility for end-to-end configuration control of CAD models, BOMs, and technical documentation within the PLM system.

• Ensure effective revision management, baselining, effectivity, lifecycle states, and release readiness for all engineering artifacts.

• Maintain consistency between CAD structures, EBOMs, MBOMs, and released documentation.

• Act as the primary reference for released product data, ensuring its integrity, traceability, and readiness for audits.

• Manage and enforce ECR/ECN workflows, ensuring that all changes are reviewed, approved, and traceable.

• Oversee alignment between as-designed and as-built configurations across various product variants and lifecycle stages.

• Coordinate engineering release efforts across mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and documentation teams.

• Lead the resolution of configuration, release, and data quality challenges.

• Facilitate release readiness reviews, change control boards, and collaborative working sessions across functions.

• Assist in prioritizing tasks, tracking action items, and resolving issues within engineering teams.

• Identify and eliminate obstacles, manage dependencies, and promote accountability without direct supervisory control.

• Utilize Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or similar methodologies to enhance workflow efficiency and predictability.

• Establish and uphold naming conventions, metadata standards, classification structures, and release criteria.

• Address configuration discrepancies, eliminate duplicate records, and resolve data integrity issues.

• Enhance PLM, configuration management, and release processes.

• Create and uphold configuration management standards, best practices, and governance procedures.

• Ensure PLM data structures are conducive to customer audits, compliance requirements, and quality management systems.

• Maintain traceable records linking requirements, designs, changes, configurations, and released products.

• Provide support for customer, regulatory, and internal audits through configuration history, impact analysis, and documentation retrieval.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in PLM, configuration management, or product data governance in complex engineering settings.

• Profound understanding of PLM systems, engineering change processes, and release workflows.

• Proven experience coordinating cross-functional engineering initiatives across various disciplines.

• Strong knowledge of CAD, BOM, document control, and lifecycle relationships.

• Demonstrated capability in driving technical execution, prioritizing tasks, and achieving closure without formal management authority.

• Experience with complex electromechanical products, such as cooling systems, power distribution equipment, or industrial infrastructure.

• Background in NPI and sustaining engineering environments with frequent design alterations.

• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar project execution tools.

• Understanding of product variants, regional configurations, and effectivity management.

• Experience in supporting customer, regulatory, or quality audits.
