Lead Piping Stress Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offers senior-level technical guidance and oversight to project team members within their discipline.

• Establishes schedules and budgets for project tasks related to their discipline to fulfill overall project needs.

• Facilitates coordination between various disciplines.

• Responsible for ensuring the successful completion of project deliverables while meeting all technical, quality, and project control standards.

• Acts as a technical liaison for the client and serves as the primary technical resource on projects.

• Reviews intricate calculations and gives approval for simpler ones.

• Provides technical mentorship to project team members.

• Ensures calculations are technically accurate and adhere to project specifications.

• Reviews and approves straightforward system/structural designs and prepares as well as reviews intricate system/structural designs to guarantee completeness, precision, quality, constructability, and operability.

• Conducts engineering reviews of drawings.

• Assesses design inputs for complex systems/structures.

• Clarifies client expectations regarding drawings.

• Coordinates the interface between design and engineering efforts.

• Actively engages in design reviews to verify quality, constructability, and operability.

• Prepares and reviews significant specifications for systems, installations, and materials.

• Defines both technical and commercial requirements, including the scheduling of vendor submissions necessary for design inputs.

• Prepares evaluations for bids on complex systems and installation scopes.

• Participates in negotiation processes with vendors regarding bids.

• May assess change orders on behalf of the client.

• Prepares and reviews complex reports/studies within a single discipline.

• Contributes to the preparation of multi-discipline reports.

• Reviews studies and reports to ensure that conclusions are technically valid, cost-effective, and effectively communicated.

⛳️ Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace, or Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, focusing on solid mechanics, structural analysis, elasticity theory, metallurgy, and finite element analysis.

• At least 12 years of relevant experience.

• Comprehensive understanding of ASME B31.1 and ASME B&PV Section III piping codes.

• Familiarity with the design, selection, and application of pipe support elements.

• Practical knowledge of commercially available piping products and their applications.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
