Lead PHP Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Design and enhance the payments and billing codebase while shaping its technical strategy.

• Manage the entire process of experiments and gateway integrations: from scoping and building to analyzing and delivering conclusions.

• Improve current payment systems to ensure reliability, performance, and security.

• Provide leadership to the team by conducting 1:1 meetings and Professional Development Plans (PDPs), mentoring, and ensuring team alignment and resilience.

• Oversee production payments and resolve issues as part of an on-call rotation.

• Work collaboratively across departments with Product and Growth on payment-related initiatives.

• Incorporate AI-assisted development into your daily tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated maturity and self-sufficiency — taking ownership of tasks and entire features from start to finish.

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in backend development; at least 1–2 years in a leadership or mentoring role (such as a tech lead or team lead).

• Proficient in PHP with experience in modern frameworks (Yii2 and/or Laravel).

• Knowledgeable in relational databases (MySQL and/or PostgreSQL).

• Skilled in Git and Docker.

• Experienced in software architecture design and testing, particularly on high-load projects.

• Capability in task estimation, breakdown, and prioritization aligned with business objectives.

• Effective communication with cross-functional stakeholders — demonstrating ownership and knowing whom to consult.

• Proficient in professional-level English for both written and verbal collaboration.
