This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define, design, and manage the technical elements of HV/EHV substation protection and control.

• Supervise the technical integration and optimization of plants at the project level.

• Create protection schemes for transmission and distribution substations, data centers, industrial applications, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

• Develop panel and interconnect wiring, panel layouts, and elevations in collaboration with local or remote design teams.

• Assess the interoperability of Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), control features, communication protocols, SCADA systems, cybersecurity measures, and telecom integration.

• Collaborate on technical development with SCADA, physical design, and control design engineers.

• Ensure that project specifications, cost control, and scheduling objectives are met.

• Engage with internal and external engineering, design, project management, sourcing, and support teams.

• Conduct reviews of load-flow, fault, relay coordination, and transient studies.

• Provide training for end users on integrated protection and control systems.

• Lead or assist in factory acceptance testing, site testing, and commissioning efforts.

• Establish outage, cut-over, and testing procedures.

• Execute root cause analyses, corrective actions, and process-control validations.

• Support quality initiatives including ISO9002 standards.

• Prepare proposals, technical specifications, design-hour and material estimates, vendor quotations, clarifications, exceptions, technical responses, and validations.

• Serve as the project engineer for small to medium-sized projects or lead such initiatives.

• Continuously enhance technical knowledge to support the needs of grid transition.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.

• At least 7 years of experience in engineering.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in protection and controls engineering for substations or power generation systems.

• Willingness and capability to travel up to 20%, including international trips.

• Ability to adhere to company travel and tax policies.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Extensive experience with protective relaying coordination and practices.

• Knowledge of circuit breakers, fuses, circuit switchers, transformers, shunt reactors, capacitor banks, harmonic filters, HVDC, and FACTS systems.

• Proficient in English.

• Possession of a P.E. License or EIT with intent to pursue P.E. certification, or P.Eng. with a willingness to obtain certification.

• Strong presentation skills and the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.

• Experience in solving technical problems effectively.

• Expertise in secondary engineering disciplines, encompassing processes, tools, and technical aspects.

• Demonstrated ownership, accountability, judgment, decision-making capabilities, and enthusiasm for the functional role.
