Lead Mobile Engineer – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Lead the assessment of Kotlin Multiplatform for the purpose of sharing business logic between Android and iOS, and take ownership of the recommendations.

• Design and develop the initial iOS application aimed at iPads utilized by drivers in the field.

• Contribute to and evaluate the current Kotlin Android application.

• Enhance offline-first architecture, which includes local data storage, background synchronization, conflict management, and dependable photo capture/upload in challenging connectivity conditions.

• Work with mapping technologies, location services, and in-app navigation functionalities.

• Establish mobile engineering standards for both iOS and Android through code reviews, architectural advice, and mentorship.

• Collaborate with backend teams, design, product management, and QA in a dynamic startup atmosphere.

• Write code on a daily basis and influence architectural choices across both iOS and Android platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in developing production mobile applications, with extensive expertise in iOS/Swift.

• Proficient in Kotlin, capable of contributing to and reviewing a production Android codebase.

• Practical experience with Kotlin Multiplatform, integrating shared code into native applications.

• Background in creating offline-first mobile applications featuring real-time, bi-directional data synchronization.

• Familiarity with mapping SDKs and applications that rely heavily on location services.

• Experience in leading or mentoring mobile engineering teams.

• Strong background in mobile CI/CD, using tools like Fastlane, Bitrise, or GitHub Actions.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; comfortable with asynchronous work across different time zones.

• Must have at least four hours of overlap each workday with U.S. Eastern Time working hours.

• Candidates must be based in Eastern Europe or LATAM.
