
Lead Manager, Accounting – Shared Financial Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and oversee members of the accounting team by establishing expectations, offering feedback, managing workloads, ensuring timely responses, and achieving results.
• Provide guidance to the Shared Financial Services team on accounting practices and leadership development.
• Manage and supervise the financial requirements of chapters, including bank/investment reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and the creation/approval of journal entries.
• Review both internal and external financial statements to ensure accurate and timely monthly closures.
• Ensure that variances are documented and adequately explained.
• Monitor chapter performance against budgets and national benchmarking metrics, informing chapter leadership of significant variances.
• Oversee chapter accounting activities to guarantee that revenues and payments adhere to GAAP and Make-A-Wish policies.
• Utilize Salesforce for proper coding and reporting of chapter revenue streams.
• Serve as the primary contact for an assigned portfolio of chapters, maintaining relationships with chapter personnel and Boards of Directors.
• Provide reports, queries, and analyses related to account activity, revenue, and expenses.
• Assist chapters with the preparation of their annual budgets.
• Act as a key staff member during annual internal and external audit processes.
• Facilitate the review and assessment of time and use studies for the allocation of indirect chapter costs.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visas or other immigration processes are not sponsored.
• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience, is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and/or financial reporting is required.
• Experience in nonprofit accounting is strongly preferred.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience is preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, with demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Salesforce and NetSuite is strongly preferred.
• CPA designation is a plus.
• Familiarity with nonprofit organizations is beneficial.
• Ability to excel in a remote work environment.
• Travel may be required, up to 10%.
• May need to work outside of a traditional Monday–Friday schedule and outside normal business hours.
