
Lead, Interpreter Scheduling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop, update, and implement scheduling procedures.
• Oversee and cultivate statistics to assess the effectiveness of the scheduling program.
• Serve as a resource for Interpreter Schedulers.
• Organize all staff training initiatives.
• Process requests within interpreter scheduling systems.
• Analyze clinical scenarios to identify optimal modes of communication for interpreters.
• Assess patients' communication requirements, complexities, and preferences.
• Determine the availability of in-person interpreters while considering factors like travel time and fatigue.
• Monitor ongoing assignments to ensure continuity of care.
• Submit requests to external vendors and confirm assignments in ePARC.
• Generate and review interpreter worklist reports in ePARC.
• Collaborate with Interpreter Services Supervisors and clinical department managers/supervisors.
• Triage and direct calls; respond to interpreter-related inquiries and assist with patient appointment calls.
• Supervise interpreter requests, assignments, modifications, and cancellations.
• Distribute daily schedules and coordinate with interpreters and vendor partners.
• Allocate appropriate interpreter modalities to comply with Department of Health, Joint Commission, and ADA standards/regulations.
• Triage emergency on-call requests and manage same-day add-ons or schedule modifications.
• Document pager activities and maintain instant messaging communication with interpreters.
• Escalate issues to Interpreter Services Supervisors when necessary.
• Train and onboard new Interpreter Schedulers.
• Conduct educational in-services for departments and employee orientations.
• Suggest process enhancements and perform additional duties as assigned.
• Associate's degree in Medical, Secretarial, or a related field combined with 3 years of relevant experience is required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
• Experience with surgical/appointment scheduling software and electronic medical records is preferred.
• Strong customer relations skills are preferred.
• Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. schedule.
• On-call coverage is required.
• Ability to respond to emergency requests from the on-call pager within 5 minutes.
