This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Install and commission drive systems, power systems, automation systems, or dynamic positioning systems at client locations during the construction of ships.
• Diagnose issues during scheduled port visits or while at sea, identify solutions, and carry out corrective measures.
• Ensure the technical integrity along with the proper installation and commissioning of equipment.
• Create commissioning and maintenance protocols.
• Provide training to customers.
• Undertake on-site project management and serve in a technical leadership capacity.
• Address customer concerns and guarantee customer satisfaction.
• Recognize sales prospects for service agreements, spare parts, training, and upgrades.
• Offer on-call assistance for customer service inquiries.
• Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the North American division.
• Assist engineering teams engaged in customer upgrade initiatives.
• Complete service reports and fulfill administrative requirements promptly.
• Conduct work aboard vessels in shipyards or offshore while adhering to GE/customer safety protocols.
• Be prepared to work extended hours or overtime during peak periods and emergencies.
• Travel domestically or internationally to customer sites for prolonged durations.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field from an accredited institution; OR an Associate's Degree or related field with at least 5 additional years of relevant industry experience; OR high school diploma/GED equivalent with at least 8 years of relevant industry experience.
• Willingness and capability to travel 85% of the time on short notice.
• Must be physically capable of boarding vessels offshore.
• Potential offshore personnel must pass Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) and an offshore survival course.
• US Person eligible to obtain security clearance for Department of Defense projects.
• Experience in a customer-facing role within a Service environment.
• Ability to undertake increasingly complex assignments that require engineering skills, creativity, and independent judgment.
• Strong computer skills and technical proficiency.
• Competence in using MS Office applications.
• Capability to work in construction-type settings and adhere to safety standards and PPE requirements.
