Lead Estimator – Gas Power Generation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a subject matter expert, guiding the estimating team throughout all stages of the procurement and bidding process.

• Manage intricate bid efforts, ensuring precision, technical compliance, and cohesion across estimating disciplines.

• Offer guidance and mentorship to team members.

• Establish performance benchmarks and advocate for process enhancements and new initiatives.

• Assist in negotiations and take part in client presentations.

• Help position Blattner favorably in competitive scenarios and aid in securing new projects.

• Identify and assess project safety requirements and JHA risks to incorporate them into bids.

• Select and engage subcontractors that meet DHB risk management standards.

• Adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures during the bidding process.

• Utilize the company's estimating software and conduct bid reviews.

• Ensure the production of high-quality bids.

• Prepare estimates for and during pre-bid meetings.

• Develop preliminary project schedules during the estimating phase.

• Provide support for troubleshooting and resolving complex project challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction or engineering, with a degree in a relevant field, as an Estimator or a combination of technical training and/or related experience in mathematics, including algebra and geometry.

• At least 8 years of progressive estimating and preconstruction experience with increasing responsibilities.

• Proven leadership in crew-based and governance-driven estimating activities.

• Experience with critical construction projects such as hyperscale or enterprise data centers, gas-fired power plants, or large commercial and industrial facilities.

• Background within a PMO, CMAR, or General Contractor organization, or involvement in large-scale, multi-disciplinary utility-scale power generation projects.

• In-depth knowledge of the construction market, estimating strategies, techniques, cost control, and the appropriate scheduling of purchases and work.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and cost coding systems.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• High level of computer proficiency; experience with HCSS Heavy Bid is preferred.
