Lead Engineer – Transmission Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Act as a senior/lead transmission planning engineer assisting utilities within the WECC.

• Offer technical guidance and establish the technical philosophy for the organization.

• Implement NERC/FERC guidelines and serve as an industry authority recognized by clients and colleagues.

• Conduct Steady State and Transient Stability studies.

• Simulate and evaluate client transmission and generation system performance during normal and emergency scenarios.

• Produce System Impact Studies and Transmission Service Requests.

• Oversee projects by assigning tasks, reviewing work, and mentoring junior consultant engineers.

• Delegate, organize, prioritize, and assess consultant work.

• Support strategy and analysis recommendations with thorough documentation and data.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

• At least 5 years of engineering experience.

• Proficiency in conducting Steady State and Transient Stability studies.

• Understanding of power system analysis and modeling techniques.

• Experience with PSLF software.

• Background in transmission planning for utilities within the Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC).

• Familiarity with load flow software such as TARA, PSSE, PSLF, and/or PowerWorld.

• Experience in generating System Impact Studies and Transmission Service Requests.

• Strong analytical and computer skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
