Lead Engineer – Substation Protection & Control

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee a group of protection and control engineers, engineering technicians, and drafting technicians from the project proposal phase through to the as-built stage.

• Collaborate with Substation Physical Engineering, Relay Settings, and other teams to ensure design agreement.

• Create comprehensive engineering design packages for protective relaying and communications systems.

• Develop SCADA packages, which include input/output lists (Point Data Sheets).

• Offer technical guidance and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and junior engineers.

• Cultivate and sustain relationships with senior engineers, managers, executives, and current or potential clients.

• Present technical solutions to key clients while addressing any technical inquiries and concerns.

• Lead or engage in client meetings and site visits to gather or deliver design and engineering information.

• Conduct or ensure adherence to QA/QC processes for all design packages.

• Assign, plan, prioritize, and evaluate the work of other engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE); degrees in Civil Engineering will also be considered.

• An MS Degree in Engineering may substitute for the BS Engineering degree.

• International Engineering Degrees will be taken into account.

• A minimum of seven years of experience in electrical engineering is preferred.

• Experience in protection and control engineering is essential.

• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or intent to obtain registration is required.

• Professional Engineering registration in the state of employment is advantageous.

• A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are required.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is necessary.

• Experience with Bluebeam is a bonus.

• Strong analytical and computer skills are essential.
