This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Oversee technical development, accuracy, and uncertainty qualification, testing, verification, regulatory licensing, and the upkeep of analytical methods for steady-state and transient nuclear reactor core/fuel performance.
• Create and maintain methods related to neutron transport, cross-section generation, and associated code.
• Assist in software documentation and validation, provide user training, and engage with customers regarding LANCR lattice physics codes and the PANAC 3D core simulator.
• Prepare, document, and present technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and participate in team process enhancements.
• Engage with internal and external users through support, documentation, and training efforts.
• Ensure compliance with NRC regulations, customer specifications, and business quality assurance standards.
• Coordinate engineering and technical initiatives with team members.
• Assist the technical leader and functional manager in project planning, status updates, and execution.
• Facilitate interactions with regulatory bodies including the NRC and DOE.
• Contribute to the development, maintenance, analytics, technical consultation, and licensing stewardship of engineering computer codes, correlations, and methodologies for BWRs and SMRs.
• Proficiency in programming with Fortran and Python.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computational methods, nuclear engineering, or a closely related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience; OR a Ph.D. with a thesis in a relevant area and a minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Experience in nuclear methods development, neutron transport, lattice physics, or nuclear cross-section generation.
• Capability to operate within an approved regulatory framework for nuclear software quality assurance.
• Proficiency in preparing, documenting, and presenting technical data to both internal and external customers.
• Outstanding oral and written communication abilities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-oriented skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
