Lead Engineer – Payments Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical groundwork for money transfer capabilities and open up new global product lines.

• Oversee the design and development of dependable, scalable, high-performance, and secure platform services.

• Ensure operational excellence while driving business outcomes.

• Make essential architectural decisions for an innovative payments project.

• Directly contribute to production code and create proof-of-concept initiatives.

• Design and develop payment platform functionalities, including orchestration, risk and fraud management, and multi-provider support.

• Create a global bill payment solution aimed at small businesses.

• Develop core platform services capable of high throughput.

• Integrate and advocate for artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance engineering productivity and developer workflows.

• Collaborate with product, security, risk management, operations, and design teams.

• Convert complex business requirements into robust engineering solutions that cater to millions of subscribers.

• Establish technical direction, mentor engineers, and promote an inclusive workplace culture.

• Propel agile execution and conduct technical deep dives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated success in delivering highly available, distributed backend systems.

• Experience in designing high-throughput services under real-world conditions.

• In-depth knowledge of system architecture and API design.

• Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Proficient in C#, Java, Golang, or C++.

• Experience with cloud-native platforms such as AWS.

• Active participation in production code contributions, proof-of-concepts, and technical deep dives.

• Strong skills in technical leadership, mentoring, and fostering an inclusive culture.

• Ability to deconstruct complex problems into actionable solutions and drive agile execution.

• Capability to collaborate with Product, Design, and cross-functional teams.

• Advanced familiarity with AI tools and methodologies.

• Must reside within Washington State.

• Availability to work within the Pacific time zone.
