Lead Engineer – Mobile, Full-Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architecture, quality, and delivery of the React Native mobile application as well as React JS web platforms for both iOS and Android.

• Establish and uphold coding standards, design patterns, and best practices across mobile and full-stack development.

• Promote the adoption of an A.I.-driven engineering approach.

• Influence technical roadmap choices, ensuring alignment with product objectives, timelines, and the wider engineering team.

• Offer technical guidance in architecture, design, testing, and implementation that encompasses native UI, BFF, backend API agreements, and LLM integration methodologies.

• Conduct thorough code reviews and perform root cause analysis on critical production challenges.

• Engage with and potentially impact industry groups or open-source communities.

• Manage the complete delivery of mobile and web features, from technical scoping to App Store / Play Store release and production oversight.

• Decompose complex requirements into actionable engineering tasks, milestones, and responsibilities across a distributed team.

• Recognize and address technical risks throughout the development lifecycle.

• Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines and release management protocols.

• Oversee the webview bridge connecting the native app with the D2C web experience for lease application workflows.

• Design and implement solutions with a focus on performance, security, and accessibility.

• Lead and mentor a geographically diverse team spanning the Americas and India.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Backend teams adhering to Agile methodologies.

• Spearhead organizational initiatives and consistently enhance engineering practices.

• Participate in the hiring process by reviewing resumes, conducting technical interviews, and assessing candidates.

• Establish expectations for full-time employees and contractors, raising the technical standards.

• Ensure software quality through best practices, automated testing, alerting, and proactive support in production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in A.I.-first engineering, including familiarity with tools like Claude, Co-Pilot, and others.

• Strong knowledge of native iOS (Swift / Obj-C) and Android (Kotlin / Java) to effectively bridge gaps and collaborate with native modules.

• Proven full-stack capabilities, including BFF / API layers.

• Extensive experience in cross-browser and cross-platform development, focusing on mobile and responsive UI.

• Proficient in state management (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, or similar), REST APIs, GraphQL, and mobile-specific data-fetching patterns.

• Demonstrated success in delivering production apps to the App Store and Google Play.

• Experience in developing and architecting high-transaction, high-throughput systems.

• Proven ability to lead distributed, contractor-heavy teams across various time zones with strong personal accountability.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills; detail-oriented, systematic, and capable of translating complex business needs into straightforward software solutions.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, Agile methodologies, and open-source technologies.

• At least 10 years of software development experience, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to mobile (React Native) and full-stack development.

• In-depth expertise in React Native, React JS, TypeScript / JavaScript, and Node.js.

• AI-enabled tools are already integrated into workflows; candidates should possess curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn as roles and processes evolve.

• Preferred: Experience with LLM / AI-native development patterns and incorporating AI-driven features into consumer products.

• Preferred: Knowledge of webview integration patterns and bridging native and web experiences.

• Preferred: Experience leading teams of 5 or more engineers across different geographies.

• Preferred: Familiarity with micro-frontend or monorepo architectures (Nx, Turborepo).

• Preferred: Background in mobile accessibility (WCAG, platform accessibility APIs).

• Preferred: Experience with Expo or Expo EAS for managed and bare workflow projects.

• Preferred: Background in fintech, consumer lending, or similarly regulated sectors.
