Lead Engineer – Mobile, Full-Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the architecture, quality, and delivery of the React Native mobile application as well as React JS web interfaces for both iOS and Android platforms.

• Establish and uphold coding standards, patterns, and best practices across both mobile and full-stack development.

• Promote the adoption of an A.I.-first engineering approach.

• Guide technical roadmap decisions while ensuring alignment with product objectives, timelines, and the wider engineering team.

• Offer technical expertise in areas such as architecture, design, testing, implementation, native UI, BFF, backend API contracts, and LLM integration patterns.

• Conduct thorough code reviews and perform root cause analysis on critical production issues.

• Manage end-to-end delivery of mobile and web features, including App Store and Play Store releases, along with production monitoring.

• Decompose complex requirements into engineering tasks, milestones, and responsibilities across a distributed team.

• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development lifecycle.

• Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release management processes.

• Oversee the webview bridge connecting the native app with the D2C web experience.

• Design and implement solutions with a focus on performance, security, and accessibility.

• Lead and mentor a geographically distributed team across the Americas and India.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Backend teams while applying Agile principles.

• Spearhead organizational initiatives and strive for continuous improvement in engineering practices.

• Engage in the hiring process through resume evaluations, technical interviews, and candidate assessments.

• Set performance expectations for both full-time employees and contractors.

• Ensure software quality through established best practices, automated testing, alerting, and proactive production support.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in A.I.-first engineering with experience in tools like Claude, Co-Pilot, and others.

• Strong knowledge of native iOS (Swift / Obj-C) and Android (Kotlin / Java) sufficient to bridge gaps and collaborate with native modules.

• Demonstrable full-stack capabilities, including BFF and API layers.

• Extensive experience in cross-browser and cross-platform development, including mobile and responsive UI.

• Familiarity with state management solutions (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, or equivalents), REST APIs, GraphQL, and mobile-specific data-fetching patterns.

• Proven history of deploying production applications to the App Store and Google Play.

• Experience in developing and architecting high-transaction, high-throughput systems.

• Proven ability to lead distributed teams with contractors across various time zones, demonstrating strong personal accountability.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills; detail-oriented, methodical, and capable of translating complex business needs into straightforward software solutions.

• Experience with CI/CD, Agile methodologies, and open-source technologies.

• At least 10 years of software development experience, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to mobile (React Native) and full-stack development.

• Deep expertise in React Native, React JS, TypeScript / JavaScript, and Node.js.

• Preferred: Experience with LLM and AI-native development patterns, as well as integrating AI-powered features into consumer products.

• Preferred: Knowledge of webview integration patterns and bridging native and web experiences.

• Preferred: Experience leading teams of 5 or more engineers across multiple geographies.

• Preferred: Familiarity with micro-frontend or monorepo architectures (Nx, Turborepo).

• Preferred: Background in mobile accessibility (WCAG, platform accessibility APIs).

• Preferred: Experience with Expo or Expo EAS for managed and bare workflow projects.

• Preferred: Background in fintech, consumer lending, or similar regulated industries.
