Lead Engineer – Library of Congress

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with leadership to define the technical trajectory of the program.

• Guide and mentor engineers while facilitating exposure to people management.

• Lead the program delivery across various functions.

• Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the program's scope, schedule, and cost management.

• Clearly communicate contractual delivery obligations to team members.

• Provide coaching and development opportunities for engineering team members.

• Establish growth objectives and development plans in conjunction with leadership.

• Mentor engineers on one or two teams regarding technical direction and career advancement.

• Oversee team processes and identify best practices to address gaps.

• Collaborate with key stakeholders to advocate for technical solutions and convey trade-offs.

• Document systems, design choices, and past performance through written reports and presentations.

• Engage in bid-writing, technology demonstrations, strategic planning, and client communications.

• Present ongoing engineering efforts, future objectives, and associated risks.

• Translate and convey technical challenges and roadmaps effectively.

• Engage in the interview process and develop/assess homework assignments.

• Manage hiring processes, performance evaluations, timecard reviews, PTO oversight, and team development.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 9 years of relevant engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent additional experience in place of a degree.

• At least 2 years of experience in mentoring and coaching.

• Proven experience in communicating and leading task efforts to drive delivery.

• Must satisfy federal suitability criteria and successfully pass a background investigation as a condition of employment.

• Extensive experience in software development, customer engagement, formal and informal communication, and mentorship.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to translate technical decisions for non-technical stakeholders, including those from federal agencies.

• General familiarity with government contracting requirements and regulations.
