Lead Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the expansion of Ulteig's partnerships with subconsultants

• Directly report to the Technical Manager-Subconsultants

• Act as the Project Technical Lead on projects involving subconsultants

• Oversee the creation of scoping documents, estimates, schedules, substation drawings, specifications, and reports

• Ensure that deliverables are thorough, precise, and adhere to sound engineering practices and client standards

• Implement standard engineering techniques and procedures on projects of moderate complexity

• Plan, schedule, execute, and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project tasks

• Provide design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for utility substations

• Conduct engineering calculations

• Address design challenges through field investigations, detailed design work, and quality-control reviews of design calculations

• Coordinate design elements of projects and communicate effectively with team members

• Offer technical guidance to engineers and subconsultant partners

• Manage multidisciplinary substation projects from estimating and proposals through detailed design, commissioning, and construction support for energization

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory

• Must have graduated from an ABET accredited program or an equivalent

• PE License is highly preferred; ability to obtain it within one year is required

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in the Power Engineering sector

• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities

• Experience in overseeing, leading, and reviewing the quality of subconsultant engineering design and project scheduling

• Exceptional verbal and written communication, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills

• Capability to manage complex substation projects with a multidisciplinary team from estimating and proposals through to detailed design, commissioning, and construction support

• Prior experience with physical, protection & control, and/or civil/structural design of electrical power substations is required

• Proficiency in reviewing and producing substation design drawings

• Ability to conduct AC & DC substation studies is an advantage

• Familiarity with ground grid modeling software is a plus

• Understanding of substation protection and control schemes is beneficial

• Knowledge of basic relay settings, NEC, NESC, and RUS design guides is advantageous

• Proven experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access

• Valid driver's license and the capability to meet company driving standards

• Willingness to embrace evolving technology and AI tools
