Lead Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Serve as the Engineering lead within a squad, providing direction on architectural choices, best practices, and technical implementation.

• Work in close collaboration with frontend technical leads to ensure seamless integration between backend and frontend services.

• Direct the technical strategy for backend development, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.

• Take ownership of the architecture and design of backend services while guiding complex technical choices.

• Create and maintain robust, high-performance backend services utilizing Node.js and NestJS (Express).

• Investigate and adopt new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance development processes.

• Guarantee system reliability and performance through effective testing, monitoring, and logging strategies.

• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives.

• Mentor and coach backend developers to foster their growth and skills.

• Set and uphold coding standards and best practices.

• Manage deployments and production operations, ensuring high availability and prompt issue resolution.

• Engage in hiring processes to attract and evaluate engineering talent.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend development.

• A minimum of 2 years in a leadership or technical lead capacity.

• Strong proficiency in Node.js and NestJS (Express).

• Comprehensive understanding of RESTful API design, security, and performance optimization.

• Advanced knowledge of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, including database modeling, performance tuning, and query optimization.

• Experience with implementing unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks.

• Expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.

• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms, preferably GCP, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering teams.

• Proficiency in both Spanish and English.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with autonomy and ownership.

• Desirable: Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, Kafka, PubSub, serverless computing, and cloud-native development patterns.
