Lead Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with partners to design, configure, maintain, and promote applications for both internal and external use.

• Ensure the reliability of applications while adhering to established architectural standards.

• Advocate for product teams by supporting their requirements and offering constructive guidance.

• Coordinate technical dependencies among various teams.

• Inspire, coach, and encourage continuous learning among developers.

• Build and maintain scalable full-stack applications.

• Monitor, test, and optimize software performance.

• Work together with software engineers, the Software Development Manager, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.

• Implement continuous delivery and test-driven development to frequently deliver functionality.

• Generate high-quality code through code reviews and mentoring.

• Scale software solutions for dynamic teams operating in a fast-paced environment.

• Share knowledge and participate in code reviews.

• Oversee team-wide usage of GitHub Copilot, focusing on prompting standards, AI-generated code security and quality review, productivity metrics, and developer coaching.

• Lead the organization's Generative AI adoption through workshops, lunch-and-learns, hands-on labs, and reference implementations.

• Mentor engineers on AI-assisted coding, code review, test generation, debugging, documentation, and evaluating AI-generated outputs.

• Identify barriers to adoption, assess AI maturity, collect feedback, and refine enablement programs.

• Architect and implement Generative AI features utilizing Azure OpenAI Service, OpenAI APIs, and open-source LLMs.

• Design and maintain RAG pipelines that utilize vector databases and enterprise data sources.

• Lead prompt engineering efforts, including versioning and evaluation of prompts and examples.

• Establish responsible AI practices, including bias evaluation, content filtering, PII redaction, audit logging, and compliance with data governance standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in full-stack software engineering.

• B.A. or B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Strong proficiency in stored procedures, scripts, Cosmos DB, SQL, and Oracle.

• Experience with Web Services, React JS, MS VB, and C# .NET frameworks, including Web Forms, Windows Forms, .NET Web API, Entity Framework 6.4+, MVC, and SPA.

• Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages.

• Familiarity with Git, code management practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Azure DevOps.

• Understanding of RESTful or web APIs.

• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and ARIA standards.

• Familiarity with Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage Account, Azure Key Vault, Azure Cosmos DB, Service Bus, Azure App Service, Azure VMs, and Azure Table Storage.

• Experience with Scrum, Kanban, Lean, or other agile methodologies.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with experience in using MS Teams.

• Proven leadership in Gen-AI change, demonstrating success in driving Generative AI adoption.

• Required experience in AI coaching and mentoring.

• Production-level experience with GitHub Copilot in VS Code or JetBrains IDEs.

• Experience in prompt engineering and evaluation, including structured prompts, few-shot and chain-of-thought patterns, and evaluation frameworks.

• Understanding of responsible AI and AI governance principles, including content safety, PII handling, fairness, explainability, and adherence to Microsoft Responsible AI principles.

• Experience with relational and unstructured data repositories.

• A Master’s degree is preferred.

• Azure certifications are preferred.

• Azure AI certifications or equivalent demonstrated proficiency are preferred.

• Coursework, certifications, or verifiable project experience in machine learning, NLP, or applied AI/ML are preferred.

• Experience with Selenium or comparable automated testing frameworks is preferred.

• Experience with agentic AI patterns is preferred.

• Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps practices is preferred.
