Lead Embedded Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Hampshire, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Supervise and execute the design, development, enhancement, and testing of intricate software for embedded processing products utilized in US DoD and secure applications.

• Act as a technical authority, guiding architectural decisions and addressing complex software challenges.

• Guarantee high-quality solutions that meet product, customer, and business requirements.

• Assess product plans and specifications to generate software specifications and requirements for new products and enhancements.

• Support bids and proposals, including estimates for engineering labor and materials.

• Collaborate with systems engineering and hardware development teams to develop sustainable solutions and troubleshoot software and hardware issues.

• Plan, design, develop, and test embedded computing software and complex enhancements in alignment with industrial, military, and aerospace standards.

• Implement, integrate, and debug bootloaders, device drivers, custom applications, embedded test software, and product simulation and production test software.

• Diagnose and rectify advanced software defects alongside cross-functional technical personnel.

• Evaluate customer-reported issues and execute software modifications or enhancements.

• Assist in producing software design and test documentation along with user manuals.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active US DoD Clearance are mandatory.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• An advanced degree is preferred.

• 8–12+ years of progressive software development experience, including responsibility for complex applications or subsystems.

• At least 5 years of experience in developing software systems.

• 4+ years of experience leading software projects.

• Proficiency in computer architecture, real-time embedded software development, and adherence to engineering process discipline.

• Practical and demonstrable experience with C/C++, Linux, LynxOS, WindRiver, VxWorks 7.x, Linux and VxWorks device drivers, Bash/Csh scripting, high-level application software, Python, LabVIEW, and IPMI.

• Familiarity with Visual Studio, Eclipse-based IDEs, AMD/Xilinx Vivado/Vitis, Petalinux, GCC, CMake, Yocto, and MS Office.

• Experience with Intel x86 processors, ARM, and AMD Zynq MPSoCs.

• Knowledge and experience with Ethernet, Infiniband, RDMA, PCIe Gen3/4, SPI, I2C, and RS232/RS422.

• Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and JTAG emulators.

• Proficient in IBM Rational DOORS, Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence.

• Familiarity with GreenHills Multi SW Development Suite, COSMIC SW Development Suite, ClearQuest, VectorCAST, and LabVIEW.

• Preferred familiarity with virtualization concepts and LynxOS Hypervisor.

• Comprehensive software lifecycle development experience following DO-178C and CMMI standards.

• Basic understanding of software regression testing and verification.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

• Capability to engage with customers, resolve escalated technical issues, and translate feedback into actionable improvements.

• Familiarity with industry guidelines and standards for engineering processes.
