Lead Director – Solutions Architect, Epic Applications

📋 Description

• Take charge of comprehensive solutions architecture for Epic Healthy Planet, care coordination workflows, and STARS/HEDIS/quality measure reporting.

• Create scalable data models and workflows that integrate Epic Clarity/Caboodle, Healthy Planet registries, care management, and risk stratification tools.

• Act as the technical expert on Epic’s population health suite and its integration with clinical, claims, and payer data sources.

• Collaborate with enterprise architecture and data teams on data governance, FHIR/HL7 interoperability, and analytics strategy.

• Assess and suggest build-versus-buy options for third-party STARS/quality vendors.

• Lead the design and enhancement of Epic workflows that support CMS Star Ratings, HEDIS measures, and the closure of quality gaps.

• Ensure that the Epic build facilitates care gap identification, outreach workflows, and documentation specific to measures.

• Convert NCQA and CMS regulatory measure specifications into Epic build requirements.

• Supervise Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, and the reporting architecture based on Clarity/Caboodle.

• Design and manage care management workflows, including registries, care plans, risk stratification, transitions of care, and communication among care teams.

• Ensure that Healthy Planet configuration aligns with ACO, Medicare Advantage, and population health programs.

• Promote integration between Healthy Planet and external care coordination platforms, HIEs, and payer systems.

• Guide and mentor Epic analysts, architects, and/or engineers.

• Collaborate with clinical, quality, compliance, and network/ACO leadership on the technical roadmap.

• Present architectural decisions, risks, and roadmaps to senior IT and business leadership.

• Engage in Epic governance, upgrade planning, and enterprise architecture review boards.

• Manage vendors associated with STARS/quality reporting tools and population health platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Over 10 years of experience in healthcare IT.

• More than 5 years dedicated to Epic applications.

• Extensive hands-on or architectural experience with Epic Healthy Planet, Care Everywhere, and/or population health modules.

• Strong knowledge of CMS STARS methodology, HEDIS measures, and quality/risk adjustment reporting requirements.

• Experience in architecting solutions that involve Clarity, Caboodle, and/or Epic reporting tools.

• Proven success in leading enterprise-scale Epic initiatives and managing technical teams.

• Comprehensive understanding of value-based care, ACO operations, and payer-provider data exchange.

• Master's degree is preferred.

• Epic certification(s) in Healthy Planet, Ambulatory, or related modules is preferred.

• Familiarity with FHIR/HL7 interoperability standards and payer data integration is preferred.

• Background in an integrated payer-provider organization or ACO is preferred.

• Experience with Medicare Advantage plan operations is preferred.

• Advanced degrees or certifications in health informatics, data architecture, or population health are preferred.

• Ability to translate complex regulatory/quality requirements into actionable technical architecture.

• Strong executive presence with the capability to communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical leadership.

• Skill in balancing long-term architectural vision with immediate delivery demands.

• Proficient in leading cross-functional teams that encompass clinical, quality, compliance, and IT.
