Lead Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the development of a data strategy that aligns with business and organizational goals.

• Offer expert advice on data management, data integration, pipeline architecture, reporting, visualization, and data warehousing.

• Oversee the design and execution of unified data models and database solutions.

• Establish and oversee a data governance strategy that complies with organizational, regulatory, and standards requirements.

• Create secure data-sharing solutions in collaboration with domain experts and IT personnel.

• Assess operational processes, research requirements, and data systems to determine database structural needs.

• Investigate new technologies and tools that enhance services and data management.

• Provide mentorship to junior team members in data management systems and practices.

• Analyze and resolve complex data integration challenges.

• Monitor and optimize database and data ingestion pipeline performance across both on-premises and cloud-based environments.

• Lead comprehensive analytics development projects, which include dashboard design, deployment, advanced visualization, automated reporting, coding, testing, debugging, file maintenance, and documentation.

• Deliver technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, project management, documentation, deployment, and operational support for intricate projects.

• Ensure that solutions fulfill functional, technical, governance, security, compliance, and architectural standards.

• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

• Execute additional duties as assigned to achieve departmental and institutional goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information science, business, or a related field is required.

• Over 5 years of progressive IT experience, emphasizing strong database design, data architecture, and data transformation processes.

• Proficiency in data architecture and design.

• Experience in implementing a data governance framework.

• Familiarity with leading industrial tools for data lakes, big data, or ETL.

• Experience with enterprise reporting tools.

• Skilled in creating dashboards using data visualization tools such as PBI, Tableau, or Qlik.

• Experience with data warehousing applications and source control systems like Epic or Workday.

• Knowledge or experience in Master Data Management and Data Dictionary Standards.

• Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and standards.

• Experience in providing technical guidance and mentorship within Data Engineering.

• Proven track record in a similar or equivalent role.

• Ability to think critically, derive insights, connect data points, and independently solve complex problems.

• Proficient in communicating complex concepts effectively to diverse audiences and persuading stakeholders.

• In-depth knowledge of data management and analytics systems, processes, tools, and methodologies.

• Advanced skills in database management, data integration, data harmonization, and institutional master data management.

• Licensure, registration, or certification: Not required.

• A master's degree is preferred.

• Experience with Epic, common data models such as I2B2/OMOP/PCORnet, AI/GenAI solutions, or enterprise platforms like Microsoft, ServiceNow, or Workday is preferred.
