Lead Cloud Security Architect – GCP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design the security architecture for cloud workloads on the Google Cloud Platform.

• Develop security design documents and decision logs for significant cloud security choices.

• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to deploy cloud security services and controls.

• Validate configurations against the organization's security policies and the best practices of the cloud platform.

• Ensure compliance with cloud security best practices and relevant regulatory requirements.

• Make informed decisions regarding critical security controls and document the trade-offs between security, cost, and speed.

• Create security guidelines, runbooks, and training materials for development and operations teams related to cloud security.

• Assess architecture designs and cloud infrastructure configurations for potential security vulnerabilities.

• Conduct threat modeling for high-risk cloud workloads and suggest mitigative strategies.

• Act as a trusted security advisor to engineering, operations, and leadership teams concerning cloud security issues.

• Clearly communicate security decisions and risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Fulfill responsibilities outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal-setting processes.

• Carry out special projects and other assigned tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience in security architecture or cloud infrastructure engineering.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field.

• Extensive knowledge of Google Cloud Platform security services and best practices, with an openness to other cloud platforms.

• Capability to make security decisions and articulate trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (such as Terraform) and cloud security methodologies.

• Possession of a cloud security certification (e.g., Google Cloud Professional Cloud Security Engineer, CISSP, or equivalent).

• Ability to assess risk and make well-founded recommendations.

• Proficiency in presenting recommendations to technical and executive audiences.

• Ability to translate security requirements into actionable steps.

• Willingness to collaborate across teams and manage competing priorities.

• Accountability for security decisions and their implementation.

• Comfort with staying updated on new cloud services and security practices.

• Must be able to provide a dedicated and secure workspace.

• Must ensure high-speed internet access/connectivity and maintain an office setup.
