This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Establish the technical vision, system boundaries, and architecture for services managed by the team.
• Actively participate in design, implementation, code review, debugging, and production support.
• Create and implement patterns that enable the development of new features.
• Offer technical guidance, resolve obstacles for engineers, review designs and code, and mentor team members.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Product to formulate technical plans, milestones, and incremental delivery strategies.
• Work with partner engineering teams to ensure seamless platform integration.
• Guarantee that integration services function reliably at scale.
• Organize, schedule, and oversee messages in third-party partner systems.
• Utilize observability tools, metrics, traces, logs, alerts, and postmortems to enhance system quality.
• Represent the integrations team in architectural discussions, aligning technical patterns, dependencies, and platform interfaces.
• Over 7 years of professional experience in software engineering.
• Proven history of building and managing backend or platform systems in production environments.
• Proficient in Python and other programming languages.
• Extensive experience in designing and managing distributed services.
• Strong architectural insight regarding stateful services, asynchronous processing, system reliability, and production operations.
• Practical technical leadership experience, including unblocking, reviewing, mentoring, and overseeing complex technical initiatives from start to finish.
• Ability to translate vague product objectives into actionable technical designs and incremental execution plans.
• Familiarity with creating third-party integrations.
• Knowledge of retries, idempotency, backoffs, rate limiting, partial failures, and external monitoring.
• Experience in developing scalable backend services in cloud environments, ideally Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing, incident response, and on-call duties.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical trade-offs into actionable decisions.
