Layout Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Create and verify Conventional Island layouts to ensure compliance with technical and programmatic requirements.

• Advance design packages through the structured Design Review process.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, assumptions, and constraints.

• Identify and manage risks related to Conventional Island installations.

• Make decisions that align with program-related risks.

• Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations as well as corporate and legislative standards.

• Work alongside installation, layout, and CAD engineers to develop module clusters.

• Ensure that module clusters satisfy system, component, and transverse specifications.

• Participate in technical reviews and project review gates throughout the SMR lifecycle.

• Assist with configuration and data management to maintain accurate and controlled design documentation.

• Utilize risk management, data-driven manufacturing, installation process enhancement, and construction planning expertise to optimize design results.

⛳️ Requirements

• Background in Plant Layout, Piping Layout, or general Layout within complex projects.

• Demonstrated experience in delivering installation design programs within budget, on time, and to quality standards.

• Proven capability in leading the development of design solutions from concept to detailed definition using Robust Design methodologies, including DfX and trade-off studies.

• Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and engineering judgment to determine the best modular configurations.

• Understanding of Systems Engineering principles.

• Proficient in requirements management.

• Experience in stakeholder management.

• Skilled in managing technical and programmatic risks.

• Knowledge of design for through-life operation, nuclear safety, fault scenarios, and EMIT.

• Experience level: 4–8 years.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

• Desirable: experience in nuclear, power generation, or other safety-critical sectors.

• Desirable: familiarity with ONR safety principles, INPO guidance, or comparable regulatory frameworks.

• Must possess site clearance: BPSS.

• May need to undergo or be willing to obtain Security Clearance.

• Required to complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard onboarding procedures.
