This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assess and analyze incoming subpoenas, court orders, and various global legal document requests for authenticity and authorization.
• Define the scope of requested records and collaborate with serving agencies concerning scope, format, and deadlines.
• Investigate Kraken's internal systems to locate and compile responsive records in compliance with global laws and regulations.
• Document and maintain comprehensive records of requests and communications in Kodex from initiation to closure.
• Follow up with serving agencies and internal departments to ensure requests are progressing and deadlines are met.
• Assist with legal request processing initiatives, uphold procedures, and prepare management information reports.
• Comply with Kraken's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls.
• Identify and appropriately escalate risks.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Corporate Security, and other Kraken teams to address subpoena and record-request challenges.
• Elevate complex or sensitive matters to management while maintaining confidentiality.
• Offer suggestions to enhance internal policies and procedures governing legal document requests.
• Over 2 years of experience in a crypto exchange, financial services company, law enforcement/regulatory liaison role, or as a paralegal (preferred).
• Knowledge of U.S. and/or European court systems is advantageous.
• Intermediate skills in MacOS, Microsoft applications, and Google applications.
• Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities.
• Capability to plan, prioritize, and manage a high volume of concurrent requests.
• Detail-oriented with professional and tactful communication skills.
• Comfortable operating under tight and changing deadlines.
• Ability to take ownership of work deliverables and consistently produce results.
• Flexibility in adapting to a changing regulatory landscape and evolving internal processes, team development, changes, systems, and tools.
• Competence in handling sensitive and confidential information with good judgment and maturity.
• Demonstrated ability to work across various internal systems simultaneously to gather and analyze data.
• Must be able to work from Canada.
