This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Take charge of labor strategy and act as JLL's main negotiator in discussions with labor unions.
• Prepare for and lead negotiations regarding collective bargaining agreements.
• Evaluate and resolve issues related to JLL's unionized workforce.
• Act as a strategic intermediary between JLL management and union representatives.
• Provide guidance on risk mitigation throughout the AMR region.
• Oversee union petitions and transitions related to unionized employee groups.
• Offer legal advisory support to HR concerning everyday employee life-cycle issues.
• Counsel senior executives, HR Business Partners, and HR leadership on intricate, high-stakes labor issues.
• Identify and address high-risk, complex union matters through suggested actions and oversight.
• Serve as the contact point for external legal counsel regarding arbitrations, litigation, and audits, managing internal matters when necessary.
• Provide legal advice to managers and HR partners on investigative techniques and considerations.
• Ensure adherence to CBAs, company policies, and relevant laws throughout onboarding, compensation, discipline, and termination processes.
• Mentor and support teams on labor relations issues.
• Conduct training sessions on labor relations and employment law topics, including discipline, EEO, ADA, FMLA, Title VII, and CBAs.
• Collaborate on improving internal policies and procedures.
• Assist the Head of US Labor Law with labor relations strategies, initiatives, and programs.
• Collaborate with business line leadership and HR Centers of Excellence.
• Some travel may be necessary.
• Juris Doctor (JD) is mandatory.
• Active bar admission in good standing is required.
• A Bachelor's degree is required; a focus in Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Human Resource Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in labor law and/or labor and employee relations is necessary.
• Previous experience leading CBA negotiations is essential.
• Experience with union petitions is preferred.
• Background in managing transitions involving unionized employees is preferred.
• Experience working with an hourly, unionized employee population is required.
• Knowledge of labor and employment laws is essential.
• Strong comprehension of collective bargaining principles and the grievance process is needed.
• Ability to interpret and apply the terms of a client’s Master Service Agreement is necessary.
• Experience in creating and facilitating training programs on labor and/or employment law topics is required.
• Experience presenting complex labor issues to large, diverse groups is essential.
• Ability to clearly communicate intricate labor matters to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are a must.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and manage sensitive situations with discretion, tact, and confidentiality.
• Capability to prioritize tasks and respond to stakeholders promptly and courteously.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Familiarity with matter management systems and proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access is expected.
• Must have authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
