Vietnamese Linguist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Vietnam.

📋 Description

• Conduct copy-editing tasks for designated projects or accounts.

• Execute translation tasks as needed.

• Offer lead support for assigned projects or accounts.

• Oversee and maintain language resources, including glossaries, style guides, and work instructions.

• Address project-related inquiries.

• Foster effective communication among team members and resolve terminology and language issues.

• Evaluate and qualify new freelancers and vendors as necessary.

• Develop and train both internal linguists and external partners.

• Engage with clients regarding linguistic matters as required.

• Contribute to the development and enhancement of working processes.

• Meet or surpass productivity, on-time delivery, and quality KPIs.

• Accomplish objectives set by the team manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Applied Languages, Linguistic Studies, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Alternative qualification: a degree in another field coupled with 2 years of full-time translation experience, or 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.

• Native proficiency in the target language.

• Proficient in English, both written and spoken, across various registers.

• Over 4 years of experience in translation, localization, editing, or content writing.

• At least 2 years of review experience.

• Comprehensive understanding of the localization process.

• Familiarity with Windows and Office applications.

• Experience using CAT tools such as XTM and SDL Studio.

• Proficient with issue tracking and query management tools, such as JIRA.

• Quick learner of new localization tools and applications.

• Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.

• Strong knowledge of terminology across two or more subject areas.

• Capable of working under tight deadlines.

• Proficient in providing clear, concise, and constructive feedback.

• Able to present information and respond to inquiries from managers, clients, customers, and linguists.

• Skilled in solving practical problems and interpreting varied instructions.

• Willingness and capability to train or instruct others and share knowledge.

• Experience communicating positively with customers at various levels.

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a virtual team.
