Kafka Integration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and set up the HIP layer hosted by Red Hat using Apache Camel microservices on Spring Boot.

• Manage and expose APIs via 3Scale.

• Create integration logic that links source systems to the messaging/event backbone.

• Construct, configure, and maintain the Kafka messaging layer that supports the HIP-to-Azure event backbone.

• Design and set up Kafka topics, partitions, and consumer groups in accordance with architectural standards.

• Implement Kafka producer and consumer logic within Camel routes and Spring Boot services.

• Integrate schema registry, manage schema versioning, and enforce backward/forward compatibility rules.

• Develop Camel routes and Spring Boot microservices to execute integration flows specified in LLDs.

• Configure and expose APIs through 3Scale, covering API definitions, security policies, rate limiting, and version management.

• Containerize and deploy services on OpenShift, ensuring health checks, scaling, and resilience configurations such as circuit breakers and timeouts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Secret clearance is mandatory.

• A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with Apache Kafka in production settings.

• Proficient in Java/Spring Boot development, with direct experience integrating Kafka clients within Camel routes.

• Familiarity with schema registry (Confluent or Red Hat AMQ Streams equivalent) and Avro/JSON Schema.

• Experience with Kafka operational tools, including Prometheus/Grafana for monitoring, consumer lag tracking, and partition rebalancing.

• At least 4 years of hands-on experience with Apache Camel (preferably Java DSL) and Spring Boot microservices.

• Experience in deploying and managing services on Red Hat OpenShift or equivalent Kubernetes platforms.

• Practical experience with 3Scale API Management, including API definition, policy setup, security, and basics of the developer portal.
