Junior/Mid Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Operate autonomously within an Agile team, transforming ambiguous requirements from concept to production.

• Engage in the complete Scrum/Agile sprint cycle, which encompasses backlog refinement, sprint planning, capacity estimation, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

• Take part in requirement refinement sessions with product owners and stakeholders, converting vague requests into clearly defined, estimable stories.

• Utilize modern software design patterns and uphold the principle of separation of concerns throughout the codebase.

• Create and develop proofs of concept to test new methodologies prior to full-scale implementation.

• Design and implement systems that manage structured, semi-structured, unstructured, and schema-bound data formats, including CSV, relational data, JSON, and Avro.

• Contribute to big data architecture and design patterns, including batch and/or streaming pipelines, data partitioning, and scalable processing methodologies.

• Collaborate with UI/UX teams on interface design choices and ensure frontend implementations align with usability and design objectives.

• Architect and develop microservices, focusing on service decomposition, inter-service communication, API contracts, and independent deployability.

• Design data layers and persistence solutions across both relational and NoSQL databases.

• Work with cloud computing, storage, and managed data services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be currently residing in Florida, preferably in the greater Tampa/St. Petersburg region.

• 1 to 5 years of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated experience in Scrum/Agile teams, including sprint planning, capacity estimation, and iterative delivery.

• Solid understanding of modern design patterns such as strategy, factory, repository, observer, and the principle of separation of concerns.

• Experience collaborating with UI/UX teams and refining requirements.

• Practical experience with structured, semi-structured, unstructured, and schema-based data formats, including CSV, JSON, and Avro.

• Familiarity with big data technologies, such as Spark, Kafka, the Hadoop ecosystem, or similar, along with their associated design patterns.

• Proven track record of building and validating proofs of concept.

• Experience in designing and constructing microservices architectures, focusing on service decomposition, inter-service communication, API contracts, and independent deployability.

• Strong knowledge of data layer and persistence design patterns, such as the repository pattern, unit of work, CQRS, data access layer abstraction, ORM versus raw query trade-offs, caching strategies, and relational SQL and NoSQL database design.

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, with core compute, storage, and managed data services from at least one major provider.

• Desirable proficiency in one or more modern languages beyond the primary stack, including Python, Scala, Go, Java, Kotlin, Rust, TypeScript/Node.js, or C#.

• Multi-cloud exposure across AWS, Azure, and GCP, along with familiarity with cloud-native patterns, is a plus.
