This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop real-time voice AI functionalities for emergency response procedures.
• Design and manage LLM-powered systems that assist human 911 telecommunicators.
• Take ownership of features across backend services, AI pipelines, frontend interfaces, and internal tools.
• Engage in low-latency audio processing, streaming systems, telephony integrations, and human-in-the-loop AI workflows.
• Integrate speech models, LLMs, and cutting-edge AI technologies into production environments.
• Establish best practices for testing, code review, observability, and security.
• Enhance evaluation, testing, and observability for AI-assisted systems.
• Participate in on-call duties, including supported shadow rotations.
• Engage in blameless post-incident reviews.
• Pose questions, investigate systems, and provide new perspectives.
• Collaborate with seasoned engineers across real-time AI pipelines, telephony, backend infrastructure, and product interfaces.
• Influence architectural decisions, develop core product features, and shape AI-agent development methodologies.
• A Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with LLMs, AI agents, AI pipelines, RAG systems, evaluations, or prompt testing frameworks.
• Strong foundation in engineering principles, quick learning, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
• Coursework, internships, research, or personal projects are considered relevant experience.
• Relevant experience may include speech-to-text, text-to-speech, voice activity detection, endpointing, interruption management, noise filtering, diarization, or audio streaming.
• Relevant exposure to telephony and voice systems, including PSTN, SIP trunking, PBX, and call routing.
• Relevant familiarity with WebRTC, WebSockets, RTP/SRTP, media streaming, or low-latency audio transport.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Elixir, Go, Python, Rust, or similar.
• Acquainted with PostgreSQL or relational data modeling.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar deployment environments.
• Less than 10% travel required.
