Junior Product Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Assist in the comprehensive design process for product features, ranging from initial concepts and user flows to prototypes and final visual design.

• Work collaboratively with product managers, engineers, and designers to translate user requirements and business objectives into product experiences.

• Enhance Smile’s design system by developing, refining, and sustaining reusable components and patterns.

• Address design requirements across the website, social media platforms, sales materials, and various marketing initiatives.

• Utilize AI tools throughout the design workflow, including transforming designs into functional prototypes.

• Design thoughtful, user-friendly experiences for merchants and their customers.

• Collaborate with a remote-first design team that caters to thousands of merchants and millions of shoppers globally.

⛳️ Requirements

• Relevant experience can include internships, freelance work, and personal projects.

• Portfolio projects should be readily shareable, such as through a website, Figma file, or live project.

• Proficient in using Figma.

• Solid understanding of visual design, layout, typography, and UX principles.

• Experience utilizing AI in design tasks or personal projects, with a keen interest in exploring AI-assisted workflows.

• Openness to collaboration, asking questions, receiving feedback, and making iterative improvements.

• Inquisitive, organized, and enthusiastic about advancing product thinking and design capabilities.

• Availability to overlap significantly with existing team hours, specifically from 9 AM to 3 PM EST.

• Must reside in Canada.

• Preferred experience: SaaS, e-commerce, or digital product design.

• Preferred experience: familiarity with design systems.

• Preferred experience: motion design, prototyping, or product interaction.

• Preferred experience: working with remote or distributed teams.

• Preferred experience: front-end coding or familiarity with AI coding tools.
