This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.
β’ Assist in conducting site surveys, preparing sites, installing equipment, and deploying systems under the guidance of senior personnel.
β’ Aid in the transition of VCS systems from outdated voice platforms to advanced systems.
β’ Provide support for the decommissioning and removal of outdated voice communication systems.
β’ Conduct basic system testing and validation related to power, equipment connections, cabling, connectivity, installation, and site specifications.
β’ Help with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of VCS and related telecommunications/IT infrastructure.
β’ Utilize diagnostic tools and established protocols to identify issues with voice, network, and hardware.
β’ Assist in performing preventive maintenance and conducting system health checks.
β’ Support on-site customer assistance and provide basic guidance or orientation for end-users.
β’ Maintain technical documentation, service reports, installation records, and cutover documentation diligently.
β’ Adhere to safety protocols, site security requirements, and operational procedures.
β’ Collaborate effectively with senior field technicians, engineers, program teams, and other technical staff.
β’ Escalate complex technical challenges and contribute to troubleshooting and resolution efforts.
β’ Develop skills in VCS systems, telecommunications equipment, testing protocols, and field deployment processes.
β’ Assist in testing activities at the FAA WJHTC in New Jersey, VCS vendor locations, and Washington Labs in Maryland.
β’ Support FAA VCS ATC cutovers as a paired, non-lead technician.
β’ Must be a US Citizen with the capacity to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
β’ Requires 2 years of experience with a BS; 0 years with an MS; 4 years with an AS; or 6 years in place of a degree.
β’ Familiarity with Voice Communication Switch (VCS) systems, telecommunications systems, or similar voice/network technologies is essential.
β’ Previous exposure to system cutovers, migrations, installations, or technology refresh initiatives is preferred.
β’ Basic understanding of telecommunications infrastructure is required.
β’ Fundamental knowledge of VoIP technologies is necessary.
β’ Basic knowledge of cabling and connectivity is essential.
β’ Understanding of power and equipment validation is required.
β’ Basic knowledge of networked voice systems is necessary.
β’ Must possess basic troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
β’ Experience with basic testing equipment and diagnostic tools in technical or field settings is essential.
β’ Ability to learn and adhere to established procedures in environments where system uptime and reliability are critical.
β’ Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities are required.
β’ Excellent customer service and communication skills are necessary.
β’ Must be able to work independently while knowing when to seek assistance or escalate issues.
β’ Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical procedures is required.
β’ Capability to accurately document work performed, issues identified, and resolutions achieved is essential.
β’ Good time management skills and the ability to support deployment and installation timelines are necessary.
β’ Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate with technicians, engineers, and other technical personnel is required.
β’ Willingness to learn new systems and technologies is essential.
β’ Must be prepared for extensive travel, up to 95%.
