Junior Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and REST APIs utilizing Java/Spring Boot.

• Produce clean, thoroughly tested, and maintainable code while engaging in code reviews.

• Create relational database schemas, write queries, and address data-related issues.

• Deploy and manage AWS services in accordance with existing infrastructure patterns.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, escalating and collaborating with the team lead as necessary.

• Employ AI-assisted development tools to expedite onboarding and delivery.

• Work alongside the engineering lead and cross-functional partners in product and QA to define and deliver features.

• Familiarize yourself with the codebase, engineering practices, and domain while moving towards independent ownership.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-3 years of professional experience as a backend or full-stack developer, in any programming language.

• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, debugging, and problem-solving techniques.

• Proven ability to quickly learn new languages and frameworks.

• Experience in building and consuming REST APIs.

• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while communicating proactively.

• Possess a growth mindset — willing to ask questions, accept feedback, and strive for greater ownership.

• Familiarity with Java and Spring/Spring Boot is a plus.

• Some exposure to AWS or another major cloud provider is desirable.

• Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

• Familiarity with microservices architecture is beneficial.

• Contributions to open-source projects or personal projects are a plus.

• Remote position, with a strong preference for candidates located in or around the US Eastern time zone.
