This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Create engaging content for various platforms, including web, mobile, and print.
• Develop daily story ideas and adapt to the priorities of the newsroom.
• Utilize social media and digital tools to discover breaking news and gauge reader interests.
• Build relationships with sources to uncover stories and influence the news agenda.
• Collaborate with digital teams to produce interactive multimedia content, encompassing text, photos, and videos.
• Report on a diverse array of news topics while adhering to tight deadlines.
• Be available to work on weekends and statutory holidays.
• Provide remote reporting as part of a Postmedia news team, specifically assigned to the Times & Transcript.
• A seasoned reporter, a journalism school graduate, or an individual from a related field.
• Previous newsroom experience is advantageous.
• Proficient in quickly organizing and prioritizing tasks.
• Adaptable to working with breaking news, features, short-form content, and unconventional story formats.
• Inquisitive nature with the ability to uncover unique story angles.
• Capable of conveying information clearly and succinctly to readers.
• Experience and proficiency in video, podcast presentation, and other digital tools are beneficial.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are considered assets.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is a plus.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Submission of a cover letter, résumé, three samples of published work (if available), and at least two signed references is required with the application.
