This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Supervise the production performance of an assigned portfolio comprising around 70–80 journals.
• Track publication timelines, copy flow, and overall portfolio health.
• Recognize delays, low copy counts, pipeline challenges, and other risks, collaborating with internal teams and supplier partners to address them.
• Serve as a primary point of contact and escalation for production-related concerns.
• Collaborate closely with external supplier project managers to uphold agreed-upon schedules, quality standards, and consistency.
• Ensure accurate journal, article, and issue information is maintained across relevant systems.
• Foster effective working relationships among peer review, commissioning, publishing, authors, and editors.
• Identify opportunities for workflow and process enhancements and engage in continuous improvement initiatives within the production team.
• Strong organizational abilities, capable of managing a substantial portfolio, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
• Proficient problem-solving skills, with the confidence to take ownership of challenges and collaborate with others for resolutions.
• Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, including the capacity to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Keen attention to detail along with the ability to grasp the broader performance of a portfolio.
• Ability to analyze data and reports to pinpoint issues, trends, and priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and open to learning new systems and processes.
• Experience in publishing, journal production, content operations, or a similar field.
• Background in managing a portfolio of publications, projects, or other time-sensitive tasks.
• Experience collaborating with external suppliers, vendors, or outsourced teams.
• Experience in supporting or mentoring colleagues or external partners.
• Proven track record of identifying or contributing to workflow and process enhancements.
• Familiarity with academic or scholarly publishing.
