Java Tech Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Spearhead technical discussions, make architectural decisions, and steer an engineering team through AI-driven product initiatives.

• Design, implement, and enhance complex, scalable backend functionality utilizing Java, Spring, and AWS.

• Take ownership of frontend delivery with TypeScript and either Angular or React.

• Direct the implementation of AI chatbot features, data quality enhancements, and dynamic reporting.

• Utilize and advocate for AI developer tools such as Cursor and Claude.

• Ensure high code quality through unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.

• Perform peer code reviews and address performance-related challenges.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX/UI designers, and other engineering teams.

• Contribute to BigPicture, a cloud-based SaaS platform comprising over 100 modules and serving thousands of tenants.

• Report to the Engineering Manager and work across functions with product, UX, and DevOps.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Tech Lead, guiding technical direction, making architectural decisions, and mentoring senior and mid-level engineers.

• In-depth, practical expertise in Java, Spring, Hibernate, and SQL.

• Strong grasp of SaaS architecture and significant experience in building and scaling applications within cloud environments, particularly AWS.

• Proficient hands-on skills in TypeScript and Angular or React, with a willingness to develop full-stack features.

• High level of comfort with AI technologies and adeptness in AI-assisted development practices, specifically Cursor and Copilot.

• Interest or background in implementing AI functionalities, such as LLM integration and data indexing.

• Solid understanding of SOLID principles and common design patterns.

• Proficient in JUnit/Spock, Git, Maven, and Docker.

• Experience evolving and scaling established systems beyond greenfield projects.

• Ability to utilize profiling tools and write efficient code that performs well under load.

• Excellent communication skills in remote/hybrid environments using Slack, Zoom, and G Suite.

• Outstanding coaching, mentoring, and people development abilities.
