Java Software Engineer – m/f/d

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain software applications that manage and enhance automated parcel sorting systems and logistics hubs.

• Design, execute, deliver, and support software solutions for leading parcel carriers.

• Optimize software for peak performance and scalability by utilizing effective algorithms.

• Diagnose and rectify software defects and performance challenges.

• Ensure a seamless and smooth user experience.

• Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating them as appropriate.

• Contribute to the enhancement initiatives within the development team.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to create robust software solutions for automated parcel sorting facilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent practical experience will also be taken into account.

• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience.

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in Java development, with Java as the primary programming language.

• Proficiency in other object-oriented programming languages, such as C# or C++, is a plus.

• Successfully developed and delivered personal, academic, or professional software projects.

• Experience in developing and/or deploying applications in Kubernetes-based environments.

• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, software architecture, and principles of object-oriented design.

• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and concepts of infrastructure automation.

• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in logistics, warehouse automation, industrial automation, or material flow systems is advantageous.

• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

• A proactive team player with strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively in an international setting.

• Demonstrates autonomy, flexibility, and ownership of responsibilities.

• Willingness to occasionally travel to customer sites worldwide and attend team meetings in Portugal and Germany, typically less than 10% of working time.
