This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot plant PLCs and control systems for power generation, ensuring integration with the ROC SCADA system.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot plant as well as Remote Operations Center IT and OT systems, including HMIs, networking, telecommunications, CCTV systems, operator computers, and software.
• Conduct routine system checks and maintenance to avert unexpected failures.
• Address failures and system malfunctions; quickly diagnose and resolve issues to reduce downtime.
• Plan and execute modifications to PLC, HMI, and station gateway programs in collaboration with the Operations team.
• Plan and implement system upgrades, software updates, and hardware maintenance, including procurement and coordination with Operations.
• Maintain precise records, documentation, and reports pertaining to SCADA performance, incidents, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Adhere to and enforce company safety standards and HSSE policies.
• Collaborate with compliance, projects, and operations teams.
• Provide training and support to staff regarding control system operations.
• Manage relationships with vendors and contractors.
• Ensure control systems comply with relevant standards and regulations.
• Promote teamwork, offer guidance, and facilitate skill development.
• Oversee the budget for IT and OT processes, including procurement, maintenance, and personnel expenses.
• Deliver status updates and reports to senior management.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.
• Travel up to 4 days per week.
• Bachelor’s degree, military experience, or equivalent in a relevant field.
• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the installation and maintenance of PLCs and control systems.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in the configuration of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, preferably within hydropower or energy sectors.
• Proven hands-on experience in installing and configuring hardware, software, security systems, network equipment, and related systems.
• Proficiency in running and terminating data and electrical cabling.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
• In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to safe work practices.
• Experience with electrical systems ranging from 110 to 13,800 VAC and 12 to 130 VDC.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and communications schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Candidates must be based in New England or New York.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Desirable: hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA and GE, Emerson, Allen-Bradley, and AutomationDirect PLCs.
• Desirable: familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and protocols, such as NERC CIP.
• Desirable: understanding of industry standards and regulations.
• Desirable: project management skills and capability to manage multiple tasks.
• Desirable: experience in providing user training and software support.
