IT Software Engineer 5, Java Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Provide technical guidance and ownership for software engineers responsible for building and managing scalable cloud-native applications on AWS.

• Lead the delivery of essential business applications.

• Establish technical direction and architectural guidelines.

• Propel AWS cloud adoption and modernization efforts.

• Make architectural decisions and oversee solution design for Spring Boot microservices, OpenSearch platforms, CI/CD, observability, and AWS infrastructure.

• Ensure the scalability, performance, security, and reliability of solutions.

• Advocate for DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted development methodologies.

• Assist in incident resolution, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, product teams, platform teams, and other stakeholders.

• Mentor engineers and cultivate technical skills within the team.

• Align technology investments with business objectives and ensure the successful realization of business goals.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in Java backend development.

• Familiarity with Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems.

• Proficiency with AWS services, including ECS/Fargate, IAM, ALB, RDS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.

• Experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.

• Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD, GitHub, observability, DevOps, and infrastructure as code.

• Understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases, event-driven architecture, API integration, and performance optimization.

• Experience with cloud architecture and AWS cloud adoption/modernization strategies.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.

• Strong skills in technical leadership, communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, coaching, collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making, ownership, conflict resolution, and adaptability.

• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and facilitate the delivery of complex cloud-native solutions.

• Background in the automotive industry, Java development, Lucid, or OpenSearch experience preferred.

• Note: This is not a full-stack role with a heavy focus on front-end technologies such as Angular/React/TypeScript.
