IT Infrastructure Specialist – m/f/d

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Oversee the IT infrastructure for radar programs and projects at both the Friedrichshafen and Potsdam locations.

• Ensure the reliable operation of highly available systems.

• Facilitate cross-site collaborative projects.

• Install, maintain, and proactively monitor the Windows/Linux server environments.

• Execute incident and problem management strategies.

• Manage and enhance virtualized and containerized environments.

• Oversee enterprise storage solutions (NetApp) and backup systems.

• Administer networks, including Cisco/F5 firewalls, and implement IT security measures.

• Provision and maintain directory, file, web server, and database services.

• Automate routine processes and infrastructure using Ansible, PowerShell, and Bash.

• Offer technical support for migrations, system updates, and lifecycle management.

• Maintain documentation, including necessary materials for audits.

• Provide technical assistance and user training, especially concerning GIS software.

• Participate in the on-call rotation at regular intervals.

⛳️ Requirements

• University degree or completed specialized vocational training of at least three years, alongside several years of relevant professional experience and significant job-specific further training.

• Strong knowledge of hardware components.

• Experience with the administration of Windows Server and Enterprise Linux (Red Hat, SLES).

• Proficiency in VMware and container technologies.

• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DDI, VLANs, firewalls, and F5 load balancers.

• Practical experience with NetApp (SAN, NAS, RAID) and enterprise backup solutions (Veeam) is preferred.

• Familiarity with scripting, automation (Ansible), monitoring (Nagios), and security tools is advantageous.

• Knowledge of Active Directory and NFS.

• Experience with object storage, web servers, and databases is desirable.

• Initial experience with geographic information systems (ArcGIS, ERDAS, QGIS) is a plus.

• Fluent in German and possess good technical English skills.

• High flexibility and willingness to travel between the Potsdam and Friedrichshafen sites.
